I have been photographing this family since 2014 since Luca was a newborn. The time I spend with them for each session is just amazing and I anticipate their session each year. The sessions are basically just a play date with friends and not sessions anymore. Abbie has some amazing ideas and I love when she comes up with new stuff each year to document the kiddos growing. We always incorporate family portraits and parents with kids, kids alone and together and things that the kids are interested in or sports they are playing. I love it because I can go back and look at every session and see their growth, and if it gets me excited I know parents love to look back on the photos see how much they have changed. That is one thing we don't always notice on a daily basis, we know our kids are getting older, growing but any time I pull out old photos or albums and look at my kids I am amazed and a bit sentimental each time.
Ms. Brynn is my little muse. I just love this age but she has always been a great model for me. Her beauty shines through all the photos and love that mom wanted to recreate a recent photos by another photographer showing the strength and flexibility of girls. They can be cute and princess like and also tough and loves sports and getting the job done. Brynn is the sweetest little girl and even though her and Luca bicker I see how much she loves her brother. It was more evident during the reveal appointment when she would oooh and ahh over her brothers photos and expressions.
Luca, oh Luca. This kid has my heart because he reminds me of my boys. He is cute as they come and a has a personality like no other. He is mischievous but so sweet at the same time. I know kids that age or with that type of personality can challenge parents and photographers but since I don't put time limits on my sessions we let him get his energy out, let him be silly and also manage to get those adorable pictures and in the meantime capturing every aspect of his personality. Luca loves to put on a show and is the most charming little man.
I am so blessed to have families that return each year (or even multiple times per year) and have me capture those memories for them. I am such a sap when it comes to looking through photographs that I am sure years down the road I will be sitting there crying seeing my clients all grown up as if they are my own children. I know some people put more value on pictures than others but the Rotellos are my kind of people, they value photography and understand what those memories mean. The value of them increases with years and will be priceless years in the future. I challenge all of you to take as many photos as you can, print them, make albums, create memories and capture them. I love to be the one to capture your family in a professional way and allow both parents to be in the picture. I know with technology and cell phones all of us take thousands of pictures but unless they are printed and displayed, they don't mean as much and will most likely not be around or easily found. I think the art of professional portraits is still as important as ever even if it is once a year/every few years or only the most important milestones. There is just something about getting dressed up and looking your best, even if it is for a few photos that will look amazing on your wall. Plus letting me, the photographer do hard work of getting them captured, culling them down to choose the good ones, printing your favorites for you, it all saves you time. That is an expense worth investing in. Check out some of my favorites from the Rotello Family session.
